NEIL WAUGH They were singing the Blue Book Blues down at the Alberta legislature last week.
Both the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and the Alberta Liberals took political swings at the ruling Stelmach Tories over spending disclosure.
The massive Blue Book got its handle when it was a hard-copy publication traditionally contained in a blue cover.
But in the cause of greater accountability and disclosure, the itemized list of every cheque cut by the government in the last fiscal year is now available on the Treasury Board website. And when you are running a $35-billion government, there are a lot of cheques.
But instead of praising the PCs for making access to this huge file of info easier, both the CTF and the Grits teed off on Treasury Board President Lloyd Snelgrove.
CFT spokesman Scott Hennig was particularly hurt about Snelgrove's massive disclosure.
