On his "Ideas & Issues" site? It's not a blog, per the disclaimer;

I don't mean to drag someone's intent into question, but while Werner has posted several articles on his 'its not a blog' blog regarding opposition to the merger, he has been strangely quiet about answering some of the questions put to him on PA.

What would he consider a better alternative party to the PCs that is already in place and ready to govern? Since this new entity is wide open to influence from everyone - including Werner - why is he quick to condemn, before the first policy meeting or rally is held? I must wonder why he is so stringent in his opposition. It seems to have gone beyond just personal opinion.

If Werner has problems with the Wildrose Alliance, is anyone opposed to him becoming personally involved in the creation of the direction of the party?

He can buy a membership and participate just like anybody else.

That was the point of the prior response I think.

If you dont like something, get involved and work to change it.

The policies are member driven and approved after all.

It's a grass roots party. There's absolutely nothing to stop Werner from buying a membership, attending the meetings and putting his ideas forward...

It's unfortunate but at this point I'm thinking that Werner is just another pooch; Someone who wants to crap on everyone else's efforts without contributing anything himself...

Either that or he does not like being called on his mistakes.

I don't know about that.

Perhaps he doesn't want to play Gotcha!; or, rather, publicly facing the fact that his opinion or position on the Wildrose or Alliance Party was incorrect...

.... which would make him human. Or at the very least, political...

Either way, it's really his call whether or not to post anybody's comments... his blog, his rules.

I was merely trying to set the record straight.

I understand that completely..... by the same token he has to realize his credibility takes a hit and I will call him on it.

It is hard for me to respect someone who cannot admit an error.

Ok, I decided to email Werner privately..... and I should have done this in the first place.

I owe him a huge apology.....

... he has no record of it and has asked me to resubmit it.

My humbliest apologies Werner..... :imnotworthy:

I think Werner looks at politics as if it were a buffet. On his plate he wants a dollop of this party's policy with a huge helping of that party's policy, a smidgen of pot-cooked chicken and some greens on the side...

And what's wrong with that? That's how all parties and voters should be thinking!

No wonder this country is such a stinking mess.

Apology accepted.

But, as I just told you in my email, as a party official, you should be more careful about "berating" a member of the public ( = voter!) on a website -- over the last 12 months alone (and before that too), there have been several party officials who have lost their jobs over blog or forum messages they had posted (e.g., it happened to a few federal Liberals).

Unfortunately, technology isn't perfect -- far from it. In addition, my site host has been tinkering with spam filters and other new gadgets and functions, and there have been some problems lately (at one time, a comment I posted in reply to my own blog was deleted as spam by the software's filters!).

Unless a comment is filled with insults, spam, troll-like comments, etc., it will be posted no matter what. On my blog, comments are not moderated, so they're posted in real time (unless the software messes up, for which I accept no responsibility -- that's Typepad's fault).

As for Ideas & Issues, comments are moderated and must meet the standard requirements that also apply to letters-to-the-editor published in newspapers and magazines (i.e., no phoney names, full contact information, etc.) -- and comments on that site are moderated.

After going over the details with Werner.... this was totally and completely due to an error on my part.

I full expect Knave or Mike to come in at this point with a crow for me to eat.....

Well, and the comment has now come through after a fresh attempt, and it has been approved and published.

I agree; it can be a tricky position to be in. By the same token I have some obligation to ensure what is being printed about the party is truthful and does not mislead others. (voters)

I think most bloggers would agree they seek accuracy as well.

Oh, absolutely, and I agree. You have to publicize your party's views and positions.

And I am a believer in freedom of expression and allowing equal time to all sides, and I am very happy to have your statement on the site as well (comments on my sites don't have to agree with my views or arguments!) -- it is up to the readers and the public, then, to weigh all the facts and arguments.
