Calgary Herald May 27, 2010 CALGARY - Pledging to run a different kind of campaign, university professor Naheed Nenshi entered the mayor’s race Thursday by outlining priorities that include better management and improving both transit and driving conditions in the city.
“I really believe that we need a change in the city,” the Mount Royal business prof added. “That we need a council that is fundamentally different, transformatively different than what we’ve had in the past.
“And I don’t see any of the current candidates really able to articulate that kind of change.”
The Harvard grad, who teaches non-profit management and has consulted for organizations from The Gap to the United Nations, said running as someone who has never held elected office will provide an advantage in this campaign.
“This year it will be helpful,” he said, referring to public anger about some of council’s decisions.
